Hogar Pre-School

Thanks to the strong support of Cargill of Honduras, the Jardin and Enmanuel School project that has become a reality that embodies that commitment. This educational center emerged in response to the educational problems that our country is experiencing. We provide the children of the home, as well as the inhabitants of Colonia Bogran and its surroundings, an accessible educational center that provides a safe and proactive learning environment.

The Hogar Enmanuel has a permanent commitment to children and education in Honduras.

History

The Pre-Kinder and Kinder Enmanuel was founded in 2012 with the help of Cargill and the director of the Enmanuel Home, Vivian Chahin. The school started with the help of three teachers, Brenda Acevedo, Karina Paredes, and Dina Yanes. Together with our director Gladys Castro, the doors opened to 25 children entering pre-kindergarten (3 years), pre-school (4 years), and kindergarten (5 years).

In our first year, 13 students graduated from Kindergarden. In the next two years, the school continued to grow. In the second year there were 28 students and by the third year there were 44 students enrolled in pre-kinder. In 2014, 28 students graduated from kindergarden!

Our operating costs are low, therefore we can provide very affordable and is able to help provide a high quality education for children who may not have had that opportunity otherwise. TOMS Shoe Company is another valuable partner to the school. Thanks to TOMS we are able to give our students a pair of school shoes every six months.

The school uses the Montessori Method to help meet the individual needs of students and to help students create a solid knowledge base to prepare them for first grade. We are excited to see how preschool continues to grow and help our community.
