Hogar Enmanuel is constantly striving towards self sustainability, allowing our children and staff to be active participants in the sustainability of their home.
Solar Paneling
Thanks to the iniciative of the national E Solar company as well as the generous support of our donors, in May of 2018 Hogar Enmanuel has gone solar! Solar panelling installed on the rooftop of our main building allows Hogar to generate over 30% of our electricity usage, thus bringing down our monthly electic bill.
We are so proud to be able to create clean, renewable energy from the sun in a way that benefits our home as well as the envirlonment.
Tortilla Production
Hogar Enmanuel has been raising home grown chickens for the past 8 years. Our chicken program allows our children to be a part of the sustainability of the home. As part of their daily chores the children feed and care for the chickens as they help them to grow into broiler chickens that will finally make their way to the Hogar kitchen. Caring for the chickens has taught the children how to raise the chickens from chicks to table.

Our Hen House
As an important part of our self-sustainable iniciative, Hogar Enmanuel´s children also maintain a productive hen house that produces up to 200 eggs per day. The children have the opportunity to care for the hens as they provide an important sourse of protein for their daily diet.
